Buttery Baked Apples
8 medium baking apples, cored
1 cup of sugar
6 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of cold water
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1/2 cup of milk
Put apples into a 1 1/2 quart baking dish. Sprinkle with
sugar. dot with butter.
Bake, uncovered, at 450ºF. for 20 minutes, or until fork tender,
basting occasionally.
Remove baking dish from oven and apples from baking dish.
Combine cornstarch, water and vanilla extract; add to milk. Stir
into liquid in baking dish. Return apples to baking dish.
Bake an additional 8 to 10 minutes or until sauce is thickened.
To serve, spoon sauce over each apple. 8 servings |
