Barbecued Short Ribs RecipesFromScratch.com9/8/06

about 3 pounds of chuck short ribs
salt, pepper, & flour
2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening
1 cup of water
1/4 teaspoon of thyme leaves
2/3 cup of chili sauce

Season meat with salt and pepper, roll in flour, then brown in the oil in heavy kettle or Dutch oven. Add the water and thyme. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Add chili sauce and simmer for 1 hour longer or until tender.
