Corn Bread Muffins

1/2 cup of cornmeal
1/2 cup of flour
2 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of bacon drippings

Sift the dry ingredients together in a bowl, then add the remaining ingredients. Stir until well blended. fill greased muffin cups 2/3 full with batter. Bake at 425ºF. for 15 minutes or until browned. Makes 8 muffins
