| Fresh Prune Kuchen
1 3/4 cup of sifted flour 3 tablespoons of baking powder 1/3 cup of sugar 16 fresh Italian prune plums 3/4 cup of sugar 3 tablespoons of butter 3/4 cup of milk 3/4 teaspoon of salt 1/3 cup of shortening 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg 2 tablespoons of flour |
| Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and 1/3 cup sugar; cut in shortening until fine. Stir in milk. Spread in bottom of a buttered baking dish (12 x 8 x 2 inches). Arrange pitted, quartered plums over top. Mix 3/4 cup sugar and nutmeg cut in butter and flour to form crumbs; sprinkle over plums. Bake at 375ºF. for 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm. Serves 6-8.
