German Chocolate Cake Bars

1 German chocolate cake mix
14 ounce package of Kraft caramels
6 oz. (1 c.) chocolate chips
3/4 cup of melted margarine
2/3 cup of evaporated milk
1 cup of chopped nuts

Melt caramels in 1/3 cup milk. Mix cake mix, melted margarine, 1/3 cup milk and nuts until this holds together. Press 1/2 of mixture into pan and bake at 350ºF. for six minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips and melted caramel mixture, then the rest of the dough mix on top. Bake 15 to 18 minutes at 350ºF. Remove from oven and refrigerate for 1 hour to set. Refrigerating the above makes it easier to cut. After being cut, they need not be refrigerated.
