| German Chocolate Pie
1 cup of sugar 2 tablespoons of flour 1 tablespoon of cornstarch 1 pinch salt 2 tablespoons of cocoa 2 eggs, slightly beaten 3 tablespoons of butter, melted 2/3 cup of milk 1 teaspoon of vanilla 3/4 cup of coconut 1/3 cup of pecans 1 pie shell, unbaked |
| Blend together sugar, flour, cornstarch, salt and cocoa. Add eggs, butter, milk, vanilla, coconut and pecans. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 400ºF. for 30 minutes. German Chocolate Pie 2
One 4 ounce package of sweet chocolate 1/4 cup of butter or oleo 14 ounce can of evaporated milk 1 1/2 cup of sugar 1/8 teaspoon of salt 3 tablespoons of cornstarch 2 eggs 1 teaspoon of vanilla 1/2 cup of chopped pecans 1 1/3 cup of flaked coconut Whipped cream or topping
Melt chocolate with butter in a saucepan over low heat, then gradually blend in evaporated milk. Mix sugar, cornstarch and salt. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Gradually blend in the chocolate mixture. Pour into pastry shell. Combine coconut and nuts. Sprinkle over filling. Bake at 375ºF. for 45 minutes or until top is puffed and browned. Filling will be soft, but will set. Cool 4 hours before serving. Garnish with whip cream.
