Sweet & Sour Shrimp RecipesFromScratch.com9/4/06

1 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of white vinegar
1 tablespoon of chopped green pepper
1 tablespoon of chopped, canned pimiento
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of cold water
1 teaspoon of paprika
Shelled, raw shrimp

In a saucepan mix the sugar, vinegar, 1/2 cup of water, green pepper, pimiento, and salt. Simmer for 5 minutes. Combine the cornstarch and cold water, add to hot mixture. Cook and stir until sauce is thickened and bubbly. Cool. Add paprika. Cook the shelled, raw shrimp on fine wire grill over hot coals until done., about 6 to 8 minutes, turning once and brushing often with sweet and sour sauce. Don't overcook. Pass extra sauce with the shrimp. Makes 1 1/2 cups of sauce
