Holiday Jewel Cookies
1/3 cup of shortening 1/4 cup of sugar 1/2 cup of molasses 1 egg 1 1/2 cup of Gold Medal
flour 1/2 teaspoon of soda 1/4 teaspoon of salt 1 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 teaspoon of mace 1 teaspoon of nutmeg 1/4 teaspoon of ginger 1/4 teaspoon of allspice 2 1/2 cups of candied fruit (about 1 lb.) 2 cups of coarsely chopped nuts |

Heat oven to 325ºF. Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, molasses and egg. Stir in remaining ingredients. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls about 1 inch apart onto lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes. (6 dozen cookies.) using self-rising flour, omit soda and salt.
