Chocolate Meringues 2
 
 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
 2 egg whites
 1/2 c. sugar
 1/2 tsp. vinegar
 Pinch salt
 1/2 tsp. vanilla
 3/4 c. chopped nuts

Melt chocolate over warm water. Beat egg whites until foamy. Gradually add sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Beat in vinegar, salt and vanilla. Fold in cooled chocolate and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto well greased baking sheet and bake at 300ºF. for approximately 20 minutes. Yield: 36. NOTE: Can be made larger with centers indented, to serve with scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce.

Chocolate Chip Meringues 2a
 
 2 egg whites
 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
 1 c. chocolate chips
 1/2 tsp. vanilla
 1/8 tsp. salt
 3/4 c. sugar
 1/2 c. pecans or walnuts
 
 Beat egg whites, cream of tartar and salt 1 minute. Gradually add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until stiff peaks form. Stir in chips, vanilla and nuts. Drop by tablespoons on foil lined sheets. Bake at 300ºF.  for 25 minutes or until dry.
