Fashioned Beef Stew
1 loaf (16 ounces) of frozen white bread dough
1 pound of ground beef
4 cups of shredded cabbage
2 medium onions, chopped
1 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/8 teaspoon of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire
1 egg, beaten
Thaw frozen bread dough.
Meanwhile in a 5 quart Dutch oven over medium high heat,
cook beef, cabbage and onions until meat is browned and
vegetables are tender, stirring often to break up meat.
Continue cooking until most of liquid is evaporated. Drain
off fat. Stir in salt, pepper, garlic powder and
Worcestershire. Remove from heat, cool to room temperature.
Grease 2 jelly roll pans. Divide bread dough into 10 equal
pieces. On floured surface, roll each piece to a 6 inch
round. Spoon about 1/2 cup meat mixture onto center of each
dough round; bring up edges over meat, pressing together
firmly to seal. Place on prepared jelly roll pans; cover and
let rise in warm place 20 minutes. Brush dough with beaten
egg.
Bake at 375ºF. 20 minutes or until golden. Cool
slightly before serving. 10 servings
