Rice
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 cups of long grain rice, uncooked
2 large green peppers, chopped
2 large celery stalks, chopped
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2 teaspoons of cumin seeds, crushed
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
1/2 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
6 cups of water
one 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
Heat oil over medium high heat in a heavy Dutch oven; add
rice and next 7 ingredients and cook until rice is browned,
stirring often.
Stir in water and tomato sauce; bring to a boil. Reduce heat
to medium; cover and cook for 25 minutes or until rice is
tender. Yield: 8 - 10 servings
