Almond Pears
Amygdalo
four 4 ounce packages of slivered blanched almonds
1 1/4 cups of sugar
1 cup of freshly made breadcrumbs
3 egg whites
1 teaspoon of vanilla
16 cloves
orange flower water
powdered sugar
Grind the almonds in a blender until very fine and place in a mixing
bowl. Add the sugar, breadcrumbs, egg whites and vanilla and knead the
ingredients together until thoroughly combined. Divide into 16 portions
and form each into a small pear shape. Insert a clove in the top of each
"pear" to resemble the stem. Place pears on a buttered baking sheet and
bake 20 to 25 minutes in a 350ºF oven. Let cool completely. Dip in
orange flower water and dust with powdered sugar. 16 pears |
