Saucy Meat Loaf
1/2 cup of chopped onion
2 tablespoons of shortening
1 can of tomato soup
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
dash of pepper
2 pounds of lean ground beef
1 teaspoon of salt
3 eggs, slightly beaten
3/4 cup of dry bread crumbs |

Saute the onion in shortening in a skillet until tender. Add the
soup, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper, mixing well. Simmer for
several minutes. Combine half of the sauce with remaining 4
ingredients in a bowl, mixing well. Press into a large loaf pan.
Pour remaining sauce over loaf and bake at 350ºF. for 1 1/2
hours. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes for easier slicing. Serves
8 to 10.
