Macaroni Meat Pie

one 8 ounce package of macaroni
1/2 cup of chopped peeled onions
1/4 cup of chopped green pepper
1/2 cup of sliced mushrooms
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
2 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon of flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon of pepper
1/4 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
2 cups of meat broth or consommé
1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
2 cups of cubed cooked beef or lamb
1 cup of well drained chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup of grated cheese
1/2 cup of buttered crumbs

Cook the macaroni as described on package. Drain. Cook onions, green pepper, and mushrooms in butter or margarine 5 minutes. Add flour, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir, cooking about t5 minutes longer. Add broth or consommé and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly and let cook until thickened. Remove from heat.

Preheat oven to 350ºF. Butter a 2 quart casserole. Line prepared casserole with half the macaroni. Add beef or lamb and sauce. Pour tomatoes over all. Add rest of macaroni. Sprinkle with cheese and cover with crumbs. Bake about 25 minutes or until top is lightly browned and bubbly. Makes 6 servings
