Peanut Butter Cookies

1/2 cup of chunky peanut butter
1/3 cup of shortening
3/4 cup of sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons of milk
1 1/2 cups of sifted flour
1 teaspoon of soda
1/2 teaspoon of salt

Cream peanut butter and shortening; gradually add sugar, mix well. Beat in egg and milk. Sift flour, soda and salt together; add to creamed mixture. Shape into balls. Flatten on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 370ºF. for 10-12 minutes. Cool. To frost cookies, add enough milk to 1 cup sifted confectioners sugar to make of spreading consistency and frost cookies, if desired.
