  > Pork Chop Recipes 

Apple Smothered Pork Chops

6 center cut loin pork chops, about 3/4 inch thick
1/4 teaspoon of ground sage
3/4 teaspoon of salt
3 tart apples
3 tablespoons of molasses
3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
2 cups of hot water
1 tablespoon of cider vinegar
1/3 cup of golden raisins

Sprinkle chops with sage and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. Brown chops slowly in hot skillet. Reserve fat drippings in skillet. Put chops in large shallow baking dish. Peel and core apples and cut into 1/4 inch slices, arrange on chops. Pour molasses over top. Stir flour into fat in skillet, cook until brown, stirring. Gradually stir in water and cook until mixture boils. Add vinegar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon of salt and raisins. Pour sauce over chops and apples. Cover and bake in preheated oven 350ºF. for about 1 hour. Makes 6 servings
