Pork Chops >

Northwoods Pork Chop

one 2 3/4 ounce package of instant wild rice
1/4 cup of chopped celery
1/4 cup of chopped green pepper
1/4 cup of chopped onion
6 tablespoons of butter or margarine
4 pork chops, 3/4 inch thick
1/4 cup of flour
2 cups of milk
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1/2 cup (2 ounces) of shredded American cheese



Prepare wild rice according to package directions.
Sauté celery, green pepper, and onion in 4 tablespoons butter in a skillet. Combine with wild rice. Put into a 1 1/2 quart shallow baking dish.
Brown pork chops on both sides in skillet. Place on top of wild rice mixture.
Melt remaining  2 tablespoons butter in skillet. Blend in flour. Gradually add milk, stirring until thickened and smooth. Add salt and pepper. Pour over pork chops.
Bake, covered, at 350ºF. for 1 hour, or until chops are done. sprinkle with cheese. 4 servings
