Meatball Stew
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
1/8 teaspoon of pepper
1 egg
1 tablespoon of minced onion
1/2 cup of soft bread or bread crumbs
1 tablespoon of salad oil
3 tablespoons of flour
1 pound of tomatoes
1 cup of water
1/2 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of sugar
1 teaspoon of crushed basil |

3 medium potatoes, peeled and diced
4 small carrots, peeled and diced
1 onion coarsely chopped
1 branch celery, sliced
Mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, egg, onion and bread. Form into balls
and brown in skillet in hot oil. Remove meatballs from skillet. Pour off
fat, except for 3 tablespoons. Blend in flour and stir in remaining
ingredients. Add to pot. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 - 10 hours, or until
vegetables are tender. serves 4- 6
