| Basic Wild Rice
3/4 cup of wild rice 3 cups of water 1/2 teaspoon of salt; optional 2 tablespoons of butter or margarine, at room temperature
Combine wild rice, water, and salt in steaming pan; cover and steam until done, about 45 minutes. Add butter; fluff with fork before serving. Variation: Mix steamed wild rice with sautéed mushrooms and fresh herbs. |
